The course is mainly designed to cover both international and European aspects of legal and irregular migration, integration, readmission and return. During the first five weeks, international aspects of migration shall be discussed including key concepts of migration, its types, legal and irregular migration, migrant, refugee, international protection, sources of migration law, key international aspects of legal and irregular migration as well as the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration. Then the second part of the course shall concentrate on the rights of foreigners arising from EU law, depending on their status in the EU member states, i.e. as legal or irregular migrants. As such, rights of Turkish migrants under Ankara Agreement and related decisions of the Association Council, as well as the obligations arising from the readmission agreement between the EU and Turkey, visa liberalization process and the EU Facility for Refugees in Turkey shall also be covered.
