European Union Law

The aim of the course is to offer a good knowledge of European Union Law as a basis for further studies on European integration. Therefore rather than specializing on specific policies of the EU (such as competition, external policy, consumer protection etc.) it subjects the fundamentals of the EU. Thus it  shall include both institutional and substantive aspects of EU Law, i.e. origins, historical evolution, institutions and competences of the EU, legislative procedures and sources of EU law, principles governing the relationship between national law and EU Law; main aspects of free movement of goods, workers, services and capital. Within the discussions of the substantive law, the students shall also be introduced with the area of freedom, security and justice also to prepare them for the second course of the proposed Module on European and International Migration Law.
